Misty is the right word. This grey carries a whisper of green, the sort of tone you get in a coastal fog an hour before the sun wins, and in Clemence’s pebbled grain it looks almost powdery to the hand. It is the most restful colour I own, and the one I reach for on busy mornings.
Roughly eighteen centimetres in height and width, thirteen deep, the Picotin 18 is the small bucket of the line, with gold-tone hardware that adds the faintest warmth to its cool surface. The leather is slack and soft from day one, so the bag takes its lean from whatever is inside.
A phone, a card case, keys and a tube of hand cream make up my carry, and I often leave the tab unfastened for quicker access when I am moving between meetings. The lack of lining keeps the weight down, which matters more than you think on a bag you carry all day in the hand.
Honest observation: with a green undertone this subtle, Gris Misty changes character with the light – grey in the morning, faintly sage at golden hour – and that shift delights some people and puzzles others. If you want a grey that stays exactly one colour, Gris Meyer will serve you better; if you like a bag with moods, this one has several.
It is also the one bag I own that looks better after rain – something about the fog-grey turning truer when the sky is low. Waiting for the bus has never been so flattering.
